Slot Review: Dennis Rodman- The Worm’s World

This is going to be one of those bipolar slot reviews here at SlotsData, since our feelings on this particular poker machine title are so ambivalent and mixed-up. Our problems with this online slot started with the title. “The Worm’s World?” What in the name of all that’s holy is that nonsense? (We did a Wikipedia search, and discovered that Rodman went by that nickname for many years of his professional career.) “A bunch of self-indulgent crap” is the answer, honestly. You’d have to be a really big fan of the flamboyant, confused, now-retired NBA superstar to play this game for the privilege of staring at his goofy mug for any extended period of time. We’re not sure that it’s humanly possible for anyone to be as big a fan of Dennis as Dennis is of himself. On the other hand, this is a big-money slot title, and that’s almost never a bad thing, even under the most dubious circumstances. Is “The Worm” a real winner or a total wash-up? You’ll just have to decide for yourself.

Rodman licensed this slot machine title through Vegas Technology. The slot game has five reels and twenty paylines. Coin values range from one cent to ten dollars, with max coins of two hundred coins, or ten per payline. You can certainly play this game as a penny slot if that’s what you prefer or if the idea of spinning for two thousand dollars a pop is repellent to you. (Hey, not all of us have the salary of a profligate top athlete.) In not betting the max, however, you’ll miss out on a shot at the top jackpot of ten thousand coins. That’s a heady one hundred thousand dollars with the bet maxed out. With that kind of loot, you can doubtlessly dye your hair a crazy quilt of crazy colors, buy a wedding dress made to fit a seven foot tall dude, or even marry Carmen Electra for just over a week. We’re just putting it out there.

The many faces of Mr. Rodman are the main attraction on the reels of this pokey. You’ll see crazy-haired Dennis in Kabuki makeup, rainbow-coiffed Dennis, trash-talking Dennis, and serious (black-and-white portrait) Dennis, among other avatars. If the gameplay of this title feels familiar to sports fans, it’s with good reason: Vegas Tech recycled The Worm’s World’s engine from the original NBA basketball themed slot title, Money Shot. Bridal Dennis in his blond wig and veil is the wild symbol, which can fill in for any other icon on the reels in a winning combination. It doubles the payout of any combination that it completes. It also does double duty as the jackpot symbol. The sports car is the scatter symbol. Get at least three of these anywhere on the reels during a single spin to activate the free spin feature, which awards fifteen freebies during which all winnings are TRIPLED! The basketball is the bonus icon for this slots game. There is also an adequate second-screen bonus feature in which you must help Dennis get nothing but net in a free throw shoot-off.
